Reading for Week of October 19-23, 2015

For reading this week, we will continue to read from The Captive by Scott O'Dell. Julian is on the ship with Don Luis and Captain Roa.  They have landed on an island that Don Luis has named Isla Arroyo.  When Don Luis found the inhabitants of the island, the chieftain was wearing a necklace of gold and pearls. This interested Don Luis!  It is obvious that Don Luis is just interested in the gold, but Julian is interested in converting these Indians into Christians.

This week, the children will read from Chapter 8 through Chapter 12 and answer questions.  Can Don Luis claim this island for himself? Will Don Luis get all the gold and pearls for himself?
